There are Days..............

This has been one of those weeks. Any one that has worked in Sales (not to be confused with peddlers) is aware, there are days when no matter what you do, and how well you do it, it just does not happen the way it should. This week had one of those and it has kept me emotionally and intellecutally engaged. Also, maybe just a bit depressed.

I love Dilbert. Alice of the "Fist of Death" is my hero. I am not sure if its the irreverence, the fact the characters are engineers or what, but it is a great strip. Like all good humour, it has a strong foundation in truth.

When I was management in a Fortune 100 company, reading the Dilbert strip helped keep things in perspective and me laughing. It still makes me laugh.

Scott Adams is a genius!

Our daughters are home and life is good.....have a great weekend

Mal,

Dilbert is great. Fortune 100 aye.

I use to be envious of the money sales people made until I figured out it paid better to have a company convince you to persue other interests with a big fat severance package.

Have a great weekend!

This conclusion is not limited to sales, but applies to every area of life, from day to day routine, to planned activities. For me to be peaceful, I accept what is, and just do my part the best I can.

Hope today is a good day for you...

Dilbert sits next to me and the pointy haired boss is gone on vacation. I'm still trying to figure out which one I am.

My favorite Dilbert is the one where the pointy-headed boss calls a meeting to complain that 40% of sick days are occurring on Mondays and Fridays.

But it's scary when work starts to feel like a Dilbert cartoon.

This, too, shall pass. Glad to hear you ended the week with a laugh at least.

Frank Warner has a note about Scott Adams' blog, which mixes serious and funny. There's a great riff about his wedding dance. Something about a monkey and an electric fence.

What other comics do you follow regularly? Me, it's Dilbert, Pearl Before Swine, Get Fuzzy and especiialy Monty. That last is my favorite.

Bestest wishes to you. Even when things don't go well, you've got no shortage of blessings to count as you recently reminded us.

Mal,

I wanted to tell you that things have changed in the workplace since you were young. We now emphasize to the young metro-sexual males that they need to hit on the phyically intimidating women as well as the petite. It's just common cortesy in my book.

For years, I was convinced that Scott Adams sat in the cubicle next to me and eavedropped on all the stupid things that happened. It was uncanny (and quite scary) the similarities between Dilbert's office and my office. When I worked as a technical writer, I had all of the Tina the Tech Writer strips on the wall. But Alice was my hero too!
